Patient safety is our utmost priority at The Heart Institute of East Texas. Our staff have exercised diligent efforts to maximize safety for both patients and medical staff members since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak. Many precautions have been taken to ensure patient and employee confidence upon entering our offices. Please be aware that the highest safety standards that are mandated by the CDC have been replicated to the best of our ability. The Heart Institute of East Texas locations will remain open to tend to your medical needs despite the current COVID-19 pandemic.

For Our Patients

Cleaning

All Heart Institute of East Texas office locations are consistently kept clean. We are disinfecting every examination room between patients, as well as frequently touched surfaces throughout the day. We utilize EPA-approved disinfectants that are considered effective against coronavirus. We have allocated additional time in between each exam to maximize social distancing and cleansing between patients.

Knowledgeable Staff

Our medical staff have been trained on infection prevention practices which include comprehensive patient screening and the utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE). We are following CDC guidelines and precautions and virtual visits (telemedicine) are option for our patients. All staff members undergo a mandatory temperature check and screening questionnaire every day.

Increased Safety Measures

We have equipped all registration desks with protective shielding. All staff members are required to wear face masks. We have implemented mandatory temperature checks and screening questionnaires for all patients and staff upon entering any office at The Heart Institute of East Texas. We are taking precautions to prevent further transmission of COVID 19.

Continuous Monitoring

Our healthcare team meets multiple times each week to review safety protocols and satisfy all current local and national guidelines. We understand that guidelines are always changing, therefore we pride ourselves on keeping up to date with current changes issued by health and government officials.

Virtual Visits

Virtual Visits or Telemedicine visits are available to all patients who want to remain at home to minimize the risk of viral transmission exposure.

Face Masks

Though state guidelines are changing, The Heart Institute of East Texas remains committed to providing safe care. In accordance with CDC guidelines, all patients, visitors and staff are required to wear a mask in our facilities, even if you have been vaccinated. We urge everyone in our community to continue wearing masks in public spaces.

Hand Washing

Practice the appropriate hand-washing techniques and utilize sanitizers that contain at least 60% alcohol, directly before and immediately after your appointment. All office locations are equipped with hand sanitizing materials to minimize contamination and viral transmission.

All patients will be screened for fever, and the following questions will be asked.  Thank you for your patience.

In the past 6 weeks have you or anyone living in your home been diagnosed with COVID 19?

In the past 14 days have you been in close physical contact (6 feet or closer for a cumulative total of 15 minutes) with anyone who is known to have COVID 19, suspected to have COVID 19 or symptoms consistent with COVID 19?

Are you isolating or quarantining because you may have been exposed to a person with COVID 19 or are worried that you may be sick with COVID 19?

Are you currently waiting on the results of a COVID 19 test?

In the past 48 hours have you experienced any of the following symptoms?

Fever or Chills
Difficulty Breathing
Headache
Congestion or Runny Nose
Cough
New or Unusual Fatigue
Sore throat
Shortness of Breath
Muscle or Body Aches
New loss of taste or smell
Nausea or Vomiting or Diarrhea
